Introduction

ASCO Group is a manufacturer and installer of public amenities, including bus stops, public toilets and change rooms. They are firm believers that public spaces should be thoughtfully designed, making them accessible for people of all abilities.

This project required a secure automated sliding door for disabled public toilet access with the addition of a Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK). The AutoCav WC sliding door system provided the functionality required.

Customised Automatic Door

Due to the construction being completed off-site in ASCO's Geelong facility, the door system needed to be robust and complete and fit a 90mm frame to help reduce the overall weight of the amenities block. CS Cavity Sliders provided an all-in-one cavity pocket and AutoCav Commercial head unit accompanied by a WC activation pack configured to incorporate the use of a MLAK. CS Cavity Sliders worked with ASCO to introduce their own push button plate (Escutcheon) that enables lights and buttons to be bolted straight on.

Automatic Cavity Sliders for High Traffic Areas

The facilities are heavily utilised at peak times, with approximately 50 busloads of tourists per day so ASCO had to choose a door system that would be durable, easy to use, and accessible. The accessible public toilets, with the addition of the MLAK system, assure the community that the facilities are kept in good working order to service those in need. CS Cavity Sliders have continued to work with ASCO providing ongoing support for the CS AutoCav-WC.

Enhancing Public Accessibility with Durable Automated Sliding Door Systems

ASCO Group's commitment to accessible and thoughtfully designed public spaces is well demonstrated through their use of automatic cavity sliders in this project. The implementation of the CS AutoCav-WC sliding door system, integrated with the Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) system, ensures that the public amenities are both secure and user-friendly for individuals of all abilities. The off-site construction at ASCO's Geelong facility allowed for a robust, lightweight solution that meets the demands of high-traffic usage while maintaining ease of operation and accessibility.
